DomesViol

What happens when an individual in Miami is allegedly arrested for domestic violence? One Miami woman found out this week on Monday, March 3. According to local news reports, 27-year-old Lakeetia Howard was arrested and charged with domestic violence charges after she allegedly attacked the romantic partner of her relative. The arrest report by Miami police indicates that Howard was “talking to a relative who told her that he was fighting with his romantic partner on Friday morning in Miami.” After the chat with her relative, Howard was reported to have allegedly “showed up at their apartment, fractured a woman’s fingers, kicked a 4-year-old girl, and chased another victim with a knife.” Howard was reported to have also allegedly “used the knife to slash the tires of two parked cars that belonged to the victims and waved a gun around threatening to shoot them.”

Howard has a prior criminal record for charges in 2022 for violating an injunction of protection for aggravated stalking. For her alleged role in the recent domestic violence incident, however, she now faces charges of aggravated batters, two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, child abuse, and criminal mischief greater than $200 and less than $1,000. On Monday, Howard appeared in court to face the charges against her. She is now being held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center, without bond. The case is still pending and it remains to be seen if Howard will ultimately be convicted of the charges against her. Under Florida laws, she is innocent until proven guilty of the pending criminal charges.
