Miami Man Arrested for Allegedly Stealing Car with Two Children Inside – What You Can Do after Being Charged with Car Theft in Miami to Get Justice

A Northwest Miami-Dade, Florida man has been arrested and charged after he allegedly not only stole a car, but in the process also kidnapped two young children who were inside of it. According to local news reports, 18-year-old Jorge Richar Casola-Martinez was arrested and charged by Miami police officers on Monday of this week for the unexpected incident that allegedly occurred earlier this year on January 22.
Reports indicate that police were alerted to the missing vehicle and the two children that were inside of it on January 22 of this year when the child’s mother stepped away, only to find it gone. The car was allegedly stolen from the 7100 block of Northwest 50th Street, and the car was reported to be a white Mitsubishi Outlander. The mother of the two children and owner of the vehicle were reported to have only “briefly stepped away” when the car was stolen, allegedly, by Casola-Martinez. Miami police deputies issued a “Be On the Lookout” alert for the car and children, and they were, fortunately, able to later locate the vehicle with the children inside. The white Mitsubishi Outlander with the 2-year-old and the 6-year-old both still inside had been abandoned near Northwest 74th Avenue and 47th street. Fortunately, the children were not harmed.
Ultimately, technology helped Miami police officers locate Casola-Martinez. According to reports, surveillance footage that captured the incident and GPS tracking devices led police investigators on the case to Casola-Martinez. Casola-Martinez was then stopped and arrested in Miami Lakes for his alleged role in the car theft and kidnapping. Casola-Martinez allegedly admitted to stealing the vehicle, and said he abandoned it after he realized that there were children inside. The case is ongoing and it remains to be seen if Casola-Martinez will face any jail time or other criminal penalties.
